by Henry Vinicio Valerio Madriz
When the loneliness of the night
wrinkles your mood and soul,
untie your childhood dreams and hopes
and draw a smile in your spirit and tell fate you’re on.
When the ceiling of your world
crumbles on you and hurts,
unleash the hidden tiger in your heart
and draw a smile in your spirit and tell the world you’re on.
When the arrows of a blind Cupid
miss and betray you once and once again,
stop crying and silence your pitiful sorrow
and draw a smile in your spirit and tell your heart you’re on.
When nothing is what it seems
and does not fit your ways,
stand tall with your head up
and draw a smile in your spirit and tell yourself you’re on.
