Salt Time

by Marie Cloutier

After To His Coy Mistress, by Andrew Marvel

"Had we but world enough and time..."

Waves crash dramatically against dark rocky cliffs, sending sprays of turquoise water into the air under a moody sky.

Your love, your tides, I had

no choice save the choice we

made- your force, my feet. But

you drew me too far, the world

made dark, made green, salt enough

to fill my lungs, fill my hair and

your wants. Your waves, too strong, too deep, no time.
