Rewired

by Leigh-Anne Burley

Upon entering my house, you would be greeted by a scene of chaos. Dirty dishes piled high, unwashed clothes strewn about, and a messy me in the midst of it all. This disorder reflects the tangled mess in my head, a jumble of gray wires without color-coded ends. I'm like a lost soul in a control room, deciphering the flashing and beeping control panel. Tears are my only solace, but they offer little relief.

I yearn for a mind that's a blank slate, free from the ghosts of my childhood. But with my thoughts scattered and my handwriting shaky, what could I write? I climb the steep steps into the control room daily, pushing buttons and flipping levers to regain control. Feeling lost and useless is a constant companion, and I spend my days curled up in a sunny spot on the carpet.

Then, a Master Programmer knocked on my door and said he could help. He mapped my brain along a grid, repaired faulty burned-out connections, and color-coded the ends. By categorizing the components into standardized compartments, the Master Electrician activated the control panel with a consistent light display. His intervention was the turning point in my journey.

I wash the dishes and clothes, sweep, and light up dark corners. I have transformed from feeling lost and floating in jelly fragments to finding peace of mind because Jesus writes his story on my tender heart.
