I wish this night would last forever,
I long to pull the light of the sun away,
I’m tired of chasing after a golden scepter,
More duty expected is revealed by the light of day.
Oh,
If I could only roam some lone wooded valley,
And camp by a briskly moving mountain stream,
Then I would never be expected to maintain any sort of tally,
And maybe then I could live my exotic inner dream.
I could converse with the enchanted wood nymphs,
Upon being awakened by the songs of birds,
Every now and again I’d hear the splash of a fish,
And never any raging angry disparaging words.
I know there may be some scheming succubus,
I am aware there could be an occasional bear,
But in spring and summer I’d simply remain in one place,
And there would be a-plenty in the deep woods to share.
Here I am stuck in this corrupting world of men,
Searching for the exceptional only to possess the basic;
I'm literally running round in circles not knowing where to begin,
I feel like I'm going crazy!
Lord,
I’ve touched every base,
But that’s still not enough,
I’ve shook every money tree!
I’m to a point I wish I could simply up and vanish without a trace,
Forever leaving this realm of infinite drudgery.
If only this night would last forever,
I utterly dread beholding the light of day.
Here nobody expects me to find any golden leaver,
And the magic kingdom of midnight fantasy could rule in its way.
