Healing

by Christine Yurick

A person stands with arms outstretched towards the ocean, backlit by the sun. The scene is serene with soft hues of blue and pink.

I’m feeling better. Stronger.

Like I’m allowed

to take up

this space

to say yes

or to refuse

to set boundaries

or to open the gates

to forgive and

to forget

to trust

and to be

to accept myself

and not let

anyone deter me

to breathe

and to be

to take a path

different from the rest

to stand apart

to heal.
