Grappling

The dharma teacher tells us

to whisper breathe as we fill our chests,

then ease on the cleansing out breath.

Am I getting too old to handle stress?

Have I become overly sensitive to chaos?

Where is my upbeat outlook on life?

Grown children are concerned.

My daughter pointedly suggests

I talk to someone.

My son forwards a link

to help me regain my balance.

The video suggests repeating:

All is well. Everything that happens

is for my highest good. I am safe.

Something positive will come

from this situation.

I’ll try these affirmations.

Though, darn it all, no one hears

my plea for a less complicated life.
