So, I just got tired of walking around you on tiptoes
Bowing to your every need…and wants
Being careful not to talk in public, anything to avoid your cold smiles which never reach the eyes
You told me several times that I do not have the necessary poise and brains to talk in public
I got tired of you telling me what to do
Giving me unsolicited advice on how to live my life
Seeing as you’re perfection itself
I got tired of starving myself to continuously be a size 8
Which to you is the perfect size for a lady
I couldn’t stand the condemning yet sarcastic gleam in your eyes when I dared go for a second helping
I got tired of hiding my belly handles in girdles which were constantly trying to separate my chest from my waist!
I got so fed up with you criticising and belittling me with your caustic words
Oh, you’re so good at drawing blood from my heart like a surgeon's scalpel with your casually spoken, hurtful words
I got tired of being your robot, your shadow
I got fed up with being your lifeless doll
And as I bid you goodbye, with freedom and my self-esteem, within my grasp
I wonder why the heck I allowed you to run and ruin my person?
